Big budget sequels that flopped in theatres highlight this week’s Blu-ray releases, while a trio of biopics debut on Netflix in the coming days. Here’s a look at what’s new on home video and Netflix this week.

Alice Through the Looking Glass

After the first film did so well, Disney had every reason to believe a sequel to their live-action Alice in Wonderland would be a huge success. Turns out they were wrong; the sequel only pulled in $277-million worldwide, less than the Tim Burton directed first film made domestically during its entire run. The blu-ray release features commentary from director James Bobin on both the feature film and deleted scenes, plus a number of behind the scenes featurettes.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Even with double the budget of the original film and a handful of returning stars, Resurgence still managed to under-perform its predecessor bringing in just $387-million worldwide. The film, along with Alice Through the Looking Glass, was an example of audiences wizening up to studio’s excessive use of sequels, and will hopefully help usher in some more original summer blockbusters in the coming years. The film hits home video on 4K Ultra HD, 3D and regular Blu-ray this week with additional features including commentary by director Roland Emmerich, eight deleted scenes, three featurettes and a gag reel.

Café Society

Woody Allen’s latest wasn’t his biggest success commercially, but it was his most critically acclaimed film since 2013’s Blue Jasmine. True to form, the tireless director is already working on his next project with a cast featuring Kate Winslet, Justin Timberlake, Juno Temple, and Jim Belushi. The release is light on special features, with only a look at the red carpet at the film’s premiere and a photo gallery included on the disc.

HBO Series: The Night Of and Vice Principals

A couple of popular HBO summer series are getting home video releases this week. The Night Of stars Riz Ahmed as a young Pakistani-American college student who goes to a party and ends up getting arrested for murder. The series examines the police investigation, the legal proceedings, the criminal justice system and Rikers Island, where the accused await trial. On the lighter side, Vice Principals stars Danny McBride and Walton Goggins as school administrators competing with each other to take over for their school’s outgoing Principal.
