There are a lot of new releases on home video this week including a political thriller shot in Toronto, and Ben Affleck’s first flop as director.

Miss Sloane

Jon Madden’s look at the world of Washington D.C. lobbyists received some pretty favourable reviews when it was released, with a lot of praise going to Jessica Chastain’s performance in the title role. Unfortunately the film couldn’t make its mark on awards season, its only recognition coming from Chastain’s Golden Globe nomination. Those looking for some behind the scenes footage of the film’s production in Toronto will be disappointed to find that the home video release only includes a single featurette titled “Lobbying: Winning By Any Means”.

Assassin’s Creed

There were high hopes that visionary Macbeth director Justin Kurzel could turn the Assassin’s Creed video game franchise into a blockbuster film, but as is the case with most game-to-screen adaptations, this one fell flat earning just $54.6M at the domestic box office. The film is getting a 4K-Blu-ray release alongside a standard version and features a five-part behind the scenes documentary and deleted scenes with commentary from Kurzel and some of his key crew.
