Home Video & Netflix Releases // June 27
After a surprisingly successful run at the box office, the Power Rangers are suiting up on home video this week. Netflix is also rolling out its July lineup, which is headlined by their heavily promoted film Okja. Check out this week’s releases below.

Studios keep dipping into our nostalgia for film ideas, and what they come out with can be really hit or miss. Everybody thought The LEGO Movie was going to bomb until the trailers started to hit, and a similar thing happened with Power Rangers. The original show was pretty campy, but with some updated production values and interesting characters the film managed to be a modest success making $140M globally and winning over audiences who gave it a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes. (Critics were rougher on the film though giving it a rotten 46%.) The blu-ray comes in optional 4K resolution and features commentary from director Dean Israelite and writer John Gatins, outtakes, and a “Power of the Present” documentary feature.

Danny Boyle’s follow up to his cult classic Trainspotting will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray this week. The film didn’t do as well as the original in theatres but was a critical success. The home video release includes over 30 minutes of deleted scenes, commentary with Danny Boyle and screenwriter John Hodge and the featurette “20 Years in the Making: A Conversation with Danny Boyle and the Cast.”
