A family in the middle of renovating their “dream home” on the Hamilton Mountain walked in to a big shock Thursday morning. Almost everything was stolen including appliances, building materials and tools.

The lock box was cut off the front door, the thieves took off with more than 20-thousand dollars in appliances and building supplies.

The owners have called police and talked to neighbours…

Taylor states, “I was relived that there wasn’t a lot of damage and I thought well we have insurance and its stuff and it’s inconvenient.”

But they called their insurance company and they were told they won’t cover it, saying their vacancy permit doesn’t cover content and they only cover building materials and supplies once they are installed.

Taylor says she’s warned others who are renovating homes in the neighbourhood and has been searching buy and sell groups online for the stolen items…

CHCH has reached out to TD Insurance, where the Taylor’s have their policy, they told us that they were still reviewing the claim and will continue to work towards a resolution.
