Hold and secure lifted at Sherwood high school after teen spotted with BB gun

Hamilton police say Sherwood Secondary School was placed in a hold and secure after a 14-year-old girl went to the school with a BB gun to confront a 17-year-old student.

Officers responded to the high school around 12 p.m. for reports of a person with a firearm.

Staff were then able to take the BB gun from the teen girl, at which point she grabbed a metal pole to attempt to strike the other student with.

Police arrested the 14-year-old girl who is not a student at Sherwood Secondary School.

The school was placed in a hold and secure from 12:05 p.m. to 12:15 p.m.
