Hockey heartbreak for Team Canada
Canadian hockey fans are choking back their disappointment, after Canada was handed a golden opportunity – and blew it.
It was a gloomy return for Team Canada, as they arrived at Pearson airport Thursday. It was a different story for the Russian hockey team. They were celebrating so much, they were kicked off a flight from Buffalo airport. Delta airlines said their disruptive behavior posed a safety threat. They’re expected to board a later flight.
In Wednesday night’s game, Russia exploded in the third period with five goals in a row. The final score, Russia 5, Canada 3.
Captain Ryan Ellis says the Canadians “stopped skating, stopped working hard,” and stopped doing the things that got them to the final.
This is the second year in a row Canada has lost in the finals. After winning the junior hockey gold medal for five consecutive years, Canada lost to the United States last year.
