Hobby farmer says 44 of her ducks and chickens were stolen

Jacqueline Dmytrow owns a farm in Port Robinson. On Thursday, when she went to check on her animals, she says 44 of her ducks and chickens are missing. Some took 44 of her muscovy ducks, ducklings, hens,
chicks and a rooster on Wednesday night.

“This is supposed to be my private happy place and someone has violated that. I don’t know if they’re hurt, dead or if someone just maliciously took them and dropped them off in the middle of nowhere. The police are limited with their own resources and they can’t go through every barn and look for lost animals.” So Jacqueline’s looking on her own. She took an hour long drive from her farm to Hagersville on the slim chance of finding the animals herself.
She thinks its possible someone stole her pets to sell on the market. She’s hoping to find them at the Hagersville Auction Centre.

“There is a chance…but small.” Wilbert Slack runs the auction centre. He says there have been 3 occasions when stolen animals have been submitted for auction in the last 40 years. “Everyone who books things in have to leave a name and address so we can trace it back.”

Jacqueline is hoping someone who sees the story might know where her stolen pets are being kept. “I don’t understand how anyone can be so cruel.”
