Higher car insurance for elderly drivers
Ontario’s human rights tribunal has given the green light to insurance companies to charge elderly drivers higher premiums.
The case was brought to the tribunal after a 92-year-old toronto man argued age discrimination after his 62-year-old daughter was quoted $250 less for car insurance. The tribunal said there is evidence that drivers over the age of 80 pose a higher crash risk that warrants higher charges.
