High winds cause damage and outages in Norfolk county

Norfolk county OPP were inundated with calls for service due to high winds and rain Wednesday night.

Police say Norfolk County Fire Department, Norfolk County Paramedics, Hydro One, OPP and Norfolk County Roads Department responded to several incidents throughout the county after high winds downed trees and power lines causing outages.

Throughout the course of the evening, police say they responded to several incidents involving trees and hydro lines blocking roadways, collisions and a few incidents where trees landed on hydro lines causing small fires.

Police also dealt with live hydro wires across wires across various roadways after hydro poles snapped due to high winds.

No injuries were reported during these incidents.
