Here’s what schools are closed Friday due to Ontario winter storm

Environment Canada has issued a major winter storm alert for the majority of Ontario.

Forecasters say the storm is expected to bring blizzard conditions and possible flash freezing to most parts of the province during the holiday weekend.

A number of schools have decided to close on Friday. Here is a list of what has been impacted by the inclement weather:

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board: All schools and child-care centres will be closed on Friday. The Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services has also cancelled buses based on the forecast.

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board: Due to the winter storm warning, all schools, adult and continuing education centres, and child-care centres will be closed on Friday.

Calvin Christian School: As of Thursday evening, both Caledonia and Hamilton campuses have not announced whether they will be closed on Friday.

McMaster University: As of 7 a.m. on Friday, McMaster University will be closed as a result of the expected winter storm.

Mohawk College: All campuses will be closed and all in-person classes and events will be cancelled on Friday. Virtual services and supports will be available until 12 p.m. Friday.

Halton District School Board: With major inclement weather in the forecast, all HDSB workplaces will be closed on Friday. This does not impact students as Thursday was the last day of school for HDSB students before the winter break.

Halton Catholic District School Board: The HCDSB has joined several others across Ontario in deciding to close all its schools on Friday as a major winter storm bears down on the province.

Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board:  Due to the pending winter storm, BHNCDSB schools will be closed on Friday.

Grand Erie District School Board: All Grand Erie school sites and transportation will be cancelled on Friday.

District School Board of Niagara: All DSBN schools will be shut down on Friday.

Niagara Catholic District School Board: The NCDSB has made the decision to close all schools on Friday.
