Snow Snake is a Haudenosaunee winter game dating back to the 1400s. Snow snake competitions rely on accuracy and plenty of snow.
A Seneca anthropologist traces the game of snow snake to 1909. Since then, the game has grown in size and level of competition. The object of each team is to reach four or seven points, depending on the level of competition. Each team shoots in a round, and a point is awarded to the snake that travels the longest distance.
