A former Ottawa professor was charged with first-degree murder in France on Saturday after the Supreme Court of Canada declined to hear his appeal of an extradition order.
Hassan Diab was flown to France on Friday.
His lawyer says Diab is also charged with attempted first-degree murder and destruction of property with an explosive or incendiary substance.
The 60-year old Canadian citizen was wanted for questioning in France about the 1980 bombing of a Paris synagogue that killed four people and injured dozens of others.
Diab was first arrested six years ago and before leaving Canada promised never to stop battling what he calls “false allegations.”
