Hamilton’s first homicide of 2012

Hamilton’s first homicide of 2012 happened last night after a man was shot at the playground of Cathy Weaver Elementary School.

The 36-year-old victim was found by police after they responded at approximately 8:20 p.m. to multiple reports of a shot being fired near the school located at 160 Wentworth Street North.

He was taken to the Hamilton General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police are still investigating the shooting and are trying to contact the next of kin of the deceased.
