Hamilton’s Eastwood Arena to reopen in the fall

Ward 2 Coun. Cameron Kroetsch has confirmed that Hamilton’s Eastwood Arena will reopen for the community in the fall.

In March, Coun. Kroetsch announced to the community that the local arena would be closing temporarily on April 15.

He says over the past few months he’s been working with the community to come up with a plan to reopen the arena. Since then, a preliminary analysis of the arena’s condition was completed.

Results of the analysis have confirmed that the arena will reopen this fall for at least one year. Repairs are required to be completed on the arena between now and the end of August.

For Eastwood Arena to remain open for longer than a year, final assessments will need to be performed after repairs are completed this summer.

Coun. Kroetsch says the repair costs will come from existing City of Hamilton budgets.
