Hamilton’s Doors Open invites public to Auchmar Estate for first time in nearly five years

Museums and landmarks in the Hamilton area opened their doors for free this weekend as part of Canada’s 150th year, including the Auchmar Estate.
It’s the first time the building welcomed the public since 2012. Auchmar was built in 1854 and was owned by Isaac Buchanan, a prominent political figure and the first president of the Hamilton Club.
The house has been visited by some notable names including Sir John A Macdonald and Pope John Paul II when he was a Cardinal.
