Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board appoints new chairperson

The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board has appointed retired principal John Valvasori as the new chairperson of the board.
Valvasori has over 35 years in education, with 17 of those years as a principal for multiple schools in the district.
He also served as a trustee since 2010, for both Wards 8 and 14, and as a vice-chairperson of the board since 2015.
“I am humbled to serve as Chair of this Board,” said Valvasori in a statement. “My focus will remain on Catholicity, the needs of our students and staff, and, most importantly, our relationship with God.”
“That work begins with understanding and respecting each other’s roles as we move forward in faith and unity,” said Valvasori.
Valvasori’s appointment follows after Patrick Daly stepped down from the role in April, to become the executive director of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association.
