Hamilton to reopen York after landslide repairs

City of Hamilton crews have stabilized the slope that collapsed during Friday’s landslide on the 403.

That means all Hamilton-bound lanes on York Blvd, and the off-ramp to York from the westbound 403, should be reopened by 3 o’clock today. However, there is still some cleanup work to do, so today and tomorrow one lane on the 403 will be closed.

The city says everything should be re-opened by the weekend.

The water main break that caused the landslide was fixed yesterday. The city planned to re-line the 50 year old water main this year, but couldn’t because of highway ramp construction on York by the provincial transportation ministry.
