Ticats hold 1st practice at new field

We’re still not sure whether the Tiger-Cats will be playing the Labour Day Classic at Tim Hortons Field but we do know that their first practice at their brand new, almost completed stadium is in the books.
And CHCH was there — well sort of. The Ticats closed the practice to the media and to the public and didn’t tell us why. And nor did they tell us where the team will be practicing tomorrow. We do know that the players were excited. They seemed to get a much needed lift from being in their new home, even if it’s not finished.
Defensive Lineman Brian Bulcke: “So I think that there’s this really good field out there. I’m a big fan of Calgary’s field and this is a step above that. It’s a really good field. There’s a lot of space on the sidelines so guys won’t really run into issues with the sidelines that happens across the league so it’s great to play on. Really, ii’s fast too, It’s really sweet.”
Head Coach Kent Austin: “Our guys really don’t care where we practise although they were excited about today to get on the field. That was a bit of a lie. They did care today because I told them we were gonna practise here. But if there’s a change — if something happens that we don’t anticipate — our players will be OK with it.”
