Hamilton residents prepare for blast of snowy weather this weekend
It has been a balmy and grey December in Hamilton, but now, a little over two weeks into the winter season, January will see a change in pattern.
Environment Canada is forecasting snow conditions this weekend, with more flurries later this month.
People across the city say they are working to prepare for the oncoming onslaught of winter weather.
Canada’s meteorological service is forecasting a snowy Saturday night, with a chance of flurries early Sunday morning.
At the Canadian Tire in Waterdown, people are gathering supplies.
“I’m doing the whole winter tires, and swapping everything. I’ve winterized the house and everything, so it’s pretty warm,” one patron said.
“Propane heater topper for our propane tank, keeps it very warm in the garage. We’ve got an ATV that has snow plows on it and lots of salt,” another person said.
And at the Esso station near the busy intersection of King West and Dundurn, ice melt salt is flying off the shelves.
One person said it’s important to clear the ice because there’s a lot of people who have stroller or mobility challenges and they may have a lot of difficulty getting around in the snow.
