Two city of Hamilton employees have been fired for bringing pot-laced brownies to work and giving them to an unsuspecting colleague.

The incident occurred just two days before Christmas — and resulted in a city employee being taken to hospital after falling ill.  The two workers who brought the brownies to work were suspended with pay.  But then today — after an internal investigation — the two were fired.

Gerry Davis is with the city of Hamilton:  “Illegal use of drugs on city property or in city vehicles, we have a strict policy on that.  We have zero tolerance. Hhealth and safety of employees is critical and one employees health was jeopardized through the actions. Going through the investigative process, we came to this conclusion.  And the union has been notified as well that they’ve been terminated.”

Hamilton police have also investigated the incident, but will not be laying charges.
