Hamilton police has found and charged a man Wednesday who they say failed to return to a medical facility while on a day pass.
Staff at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton – West 5th Campus reported Barry Dip had failed to return from an authorized day pass Tuesday.
Dip was expected to return to the facility by 9 p.m.
Officers had asked members of the public Wednesday morning to be on the look out for him.
They said Dip could have posed a risk to residents if he had not been taking his medication.
A Form 49 committal warrant was issued for Dip, and Hamilton police began actively looking for him, after he was last seen on foot in the area of West 5th Street.
Police were able to find Dip in Grimsby later in the day and arrested him without incident.
As a result of the investigation, charges are pending for Dip.
Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Division 3 Patrol Staff Sergeant at 905-546-3886.
