Police are searching for a man accused of trying to abduct an eight-year-old child in Dundas on Thursday morning.

Hamilton police say the child was walking their dog in the area of Newcombe Road and Linington Trail around 8:20 a.m., when they were approached by a man driving a white van.

The man allegedly got out of the van. He then told the kid there was candy in the van and said they should get in it.

Officers say the man also told the kid that he’ll “give you whatever you want.”

The man eventually tried to grab the child, but the kid kicked him and ran away.
