Hamilton police are investigating if two suspects are involved with the breaking and entering of several homes in southern Ontario.

Officers say on Sept. 15, at around 3:30 p.m., a resident of a home in the area of Highway No. 5 and Lynden Road in Hamilton heard someone enter the building.

A family member in the home said they found a man seated at a computer desk on the main floor.

They say the man made a brief statement about paying for the fruit produce that the home had for sale at the end of their driveway.

The man then left on foot to a waiting black Audi vehicle, before leaving the property.

At first, the residents of the home believed the man was just confused and was genuinely asking about the fruit produce.

They later became suspicious after social media reports described the same suspects and vehicle to similar incidents at other homes, including ones in Oxford County and in the City of Markham.

Detectives are looking for a Middle Eastern 30-year-old man who they describe as five-foot-ten tall with an average build, and was seen wearing a long white t-shirt and dark pants.

They are also looking for a Middle Eastern woman of an unknown age, who they describe was wearing a black top and pants with light-coloured embroidery.

Officers say that video footage confirmed that both suspects were on the property.

They say the suspects did not force their way in — the door had been left unlocked — and are unclear if any money or produce was stolen from the farm stand, as nothing appeared to be reported missing from inside the home.

Hamilton police are asking residents, particularly those who operate farm stands or similar businesses, to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-546-3851, or if they wish to remain anonymous to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
