Hamilton police are investigating a theft from a home on Rosslyn Avenue during in which a family urn was taken.

On Aug. 21, officers say a fire broke out at a home on Rosslyn Avenue which then destroyed a neighbouring home. 

Investigators say the neighbours were unable to continue living in the home and had to be relocated until repairs could be completed. 

Detectives say during that time, someone broke into the vacant home and stole jewellery, collectable items and other valuables along with the urn holding the victim’s parents’ ashes.

Police are hoping to reunite the victim with their loved one. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Const. Olivia Hutchison at 905-546-2956.
