Hamilton police say ‘isolated’ shooting on Manning Avenue ‘accidental’, self-inflicted

Hamilton police have determined that an “isolated” shooting that left a 27-year-old man critically injured was an accidental self-shooting.

Emergency crews were called to a residence on Manning Avenue around 2:53 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they discovered one person with a gunshot injury.

Police, fire and paramedics provided immediate care, and the man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Investigators say the people at the home were known to each other, and the shooting was an isolated incident.

While detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, they are not searching for any additional suspects or witnesses.
