Arrests made in two separate standoffs in Hamilton Sunday

Hamilton Police made two arrests and seized a rifle in two separate standoffs in the city Sunday.
The first was around Hamilton’s Westdale neighbourhood on Bond St. N.
Officers were responding to reports of a man making threats in his home, armed with a long-range rifle.
Neighbours say the man eventually came outside and was taken down at gunpoint by officers.
Police seized the weapon and the man was taken into custody.
The second standoff was on the mountain.
A man barricaded himself in a home on West 18th St., near Mohawk Rd. for several hours.
He was eventually arrested. Police are calling this a domestic situation.
There were no injuries in either incident.
