Halton police officer charged

A Halton Police Officer is facing an assault charge, in connection with an incident that happened while he was on duty last Monday.

Police say the officer allegedly assaulted a man that had been taken into custody by police, after responding to a disturbance call in the Main Street area in Milton.

The victim wasn’t seriously injured. Constable Dwain Newham will be in court on September 25th.
