Hamilton police investigating a stabbing near Gage Park

Hamilton police are confirming that they are investigating a stabbing in the city’s east end that sent an 83-year-old woman to the hospital.

It happened in the area of Gage Ave. S and Cumberland Ave. shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday.

There was a large police presence there and police tape blocked off an area near an apartment building.

Police tell us that they have one person in custody and they aren’t looking for anyone else.

The senior who was injured is expected to recover.

Officers are expected to be at the apartment building throughout the night.
