Hamilton police investigate vandalism to Andrea Horwath campaign sign

Hamilton police say its hate crime unit is investigating the vandalism of campaign materials for mayoral candidate Andrea Horwath.
A police spokesperson says the incident is one of three reports in connection with the municipal election that is being probed as potential hate crimes.

Another incident involves a sticker saying “white people first” that was placed on a campaign ad for Ward 14 city council candidate Kojo Damptey, who is Black.
Horwath says the vandalism to her campaign signs involved disturbing misogynistic and violent imagery, and called on community leaders in Hamilton to call out hate.
