Hamilton police investigate city’s 15th homicide of the year

Hamilton police are investigating after an 18-year-old man was shot in the city’s east end.

It happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday in the area of Cannon St. East and Barnesdale Ave. North.

The victim was walking when he was approached by a dark-coloured four-door sedan. Multiple shots were fired from the car, hitting the victim.

He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators have identified the shooting victim as 18-year-old Yua Blut Kaw, of Hamilton.

At this time, police do not have a description of the suspects.

There will be a heavy police presence in the area today in hopes of finding additional witnesses and video surveillance.

This is the city’s 15th homicide of the year.
