Hamilton police investigate ATM robbery, seek identity of suspect

Hamilton police are asking for help in identifying a suspect in an ATM robbery that happened on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Police say a man entered the CIBC located at 1882 King Street East and approached the victim from the rear while they were using the ATM. As the money was dispensed, the man demanded the victim giver him the money.

The man took the cash and fled on foot to a white SUV parked in the branch parking lot. Police say the vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on Rosedale Avenue towards Lawrence Road.

Police say during the incident, the man was in possession of an edged weapon believed to be a knife. The victim was not physically injured during the incident.

The man is described at white, 5’9″-5’10”, heavy build, thinning hair and wearing a blue medical mask, sunglasses, black t-shirt, white gloves and jeans.
