Hamilton police investigate 2 fatal motorcycle crashes in 24 hours

Hamilton police are investigating two fatal motorcycle crashes in the span of 24 hours.

A late-night collision on Upper Paradise Road Sept. 25 involving a motorcycle killed one man and sent a woman to hospital.

The second fatality involving a motorcycle occurred just after 3:30 p.m. Sept. 26 on Barton Street East.

The first incident took place around 11 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Upper Paradise Road and Lunner Avenue.

A 37-year-old man from Hamilton was driving a Honda motorcycle northbound on Upper Paradise Road when he attempted to pass another vehicle. The motorcycle hit the vehicle and threw the man from his seat.

Paramedics told CHCH News that the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital without vital signs.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit was a 40-year-old woman from Hamilton. She was transported to local hospital in stable condition.

The second collision involving a motorcycle occurred just after 3:30 pm Thursday in the eastbound lane of Barton Street East at Barnesdale Avenue North.

A 74-yr-old male from Hamilton was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Barton Street East, approaching Barnesdale Avenue North.

A Jeep Cherokee, driven by a 59-year-old male from St. Catharines, was westbound on Barton Street East. The Jeep turned left across the eastbound lanes and the motorcycle struck the side of the Jeep, ejecting the motorcycle rider.

The motorcycle rider was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A stretch of Barton Street East was closed for several hours for the investigation.

It was the City’s third motorcycle collision fatality of 2024.
