Hamilton police follow snow tracks to nab thief

A Hamilton man has been charged with theft after police spotted him dragging a “perfectly good snow blower” through the fresh snow.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Monday, a Hamilton police officer was patrolling the residential area of Roxborough Ave. and Ottawa St. North.

The officer saw a man dragging what appeared to be a working snow blower through the snow backwards. The officer beginning following the tracks of the man left behind which led him to the doorway of a shed in the backyard of a home.

Following the investigation, a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 8.

Police say the snow blower was returned to its rightful owner.
