Hamilton police continue to investigate weekend stabbing in downtown core

Hamilton police say they are continuing to investigate after a man was stabbed in the downtown core on Sunday.

According to detectives, two adult men got into a fight near Bay Street North and Cannon Street West just after 1 p.m.

Following the altercation, one of the men realized he had been stabbed in the back. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police blocked off portions of the parking lot at a nearby Tim Hortons and the CityHousing Hamilton building at 106 Bay St. North as part of the investigation.

On Sunday, detectives said they had one person in custody.

A spokesperson for Hamilton police said that the investigation is ongoing and they are unable to provide more details for now.
