Hamilton man facing kiddy porn charges

An international child pornography investigation is now centred in Hamilton.

Police from the United Kingdom, Canada, and the FBI are focusing their investigation on a young Hamilton man. Robert Ellis, 21, went to court this afternoon facing two charges, of using the internet to lure minors, for sexual purposes. He’ll remain in custody until a bail hearing Friday. Details are under a publication ban.

Ellis was arrested Tuesday in Hamilton after police received information from the FBI.

He is accused of contacting young boys in Canada, the U.K. and the U.S., posing as a young female, and urging them to take their clothes off. It’s alleged those sessions were then recorded, and the victims threatened with public exposure unless they provided more material.

Police say the investigation is continuing here in North America and overseas, and that more charges are likely.
