Hamilton man, 21, seriously injured after being hit by vehicle

A 21-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Hamilton on Wednesday.

It happened in the area of King St. East and Ottawa St. South around 6 p.m.

Police say the man was crossing the road from the south sidewalk when he was hit by a 2010 Jeep that was travelling westbound.

He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and remains in critical condition.

The 45-year-old woman who was driving the Jeep was not injured in the collision. She has been cooperating with the investigation.

Police say speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation due to the severity of the injuries.
