Hamilton’s city manager says an update on details surrounding the 2024 cyber attack on the city’s infrastructure will come out later this year.

During an interview at city hall Thursday, Marnie Cluckie was asked what the ransom that the city refused to pay to the hackers responsible for the attack, so that figure could be compared to how much has spent on the recovery.

While she did not disclose those details, she said, “we still do have an investigation ongoing into this matter, though I expect it will be concluded relatively soon.”

Cluckie said that she anticipates a report to come forward around the third quarter of this year.

She also said Hamilton Police are leading the investigation.

In January the City budgeted over $52 million for the next two years in it’s continued response to the attack, which happened last February.

The attack impacted and disabled many city services but since then, the city has restored most of them, and are focused on rebuilding its systems.
