Police have arrested a pair of Hamilton residents after a stolen U-Haul truck smashed into a parked car on Monday.
Officers were called to the area of Robert St. and Victoria Ave. North around 8:30 p.m. for reports of a collision.
Investigators say a U-Haul truck was reversing through an alleyway and hit a parked car. After reviewing security video, police discovered the truck remained on scene for a brief moment and then drove away.
A few hours later, police located the U-Haul in the area of Wilson St. and Wellington St. North and discovered it had been reported stolen.
A 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.
Police say the woman was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and was bound by a court order. She is facing additional charges including possession of controlled substance and fail to comply probation. The man was also charged with failing to stop at an accident.
