Hamilton celebrates 23rd annual Breakfast of Champions

Athletes and coaches gathered at the Hamilton Convention Centre Tuesday morning for the 23rd annual Breakfast of Champions.

The award ceremony is organized by SportHamilton and recognizes the accomplishments of local athletes, teams and coaches in the 2023 season.

This year, the Breakfast of Champions was invited to be a community partner of the Grey Cup, and SportHamilton moved the event up a couple weeks in order to celebrate.

Individual and team Ontario champions were honoured, as well as those who qualified for Canadian championships.

President of SportHamilton Helen Downey says it’s important to recognize and celebrate the successes of Hamilton athletes and teams.

“These are all, first of all, provincial champions in their sport. Some of them have gone on to represent on the national level, and some have even gone on to compete and represent at the international level, putting Hamilton on the map as they travel and compete,” Downey said.

Some of the award winners this year include students from across the city, recognizing their talents in high-performance and excellence.
