Hamilton buses back on schedule after workers block transit centre

Hamilton Street Railway buses are running normally again after riders experienced delays of up to three hours Thursday morning due to striking city water workers.
Buses were being blocked at the Hamilton Mountain Transit Centre by picketing city water workers, prompting HSR to post on X warning customers to check for delays.

“Our HSR/ATU brand and reputation is being seriously damaged and I truly feel bad for our passengers who rely on us daily,” says Eric Tuck, the president of ATU Local 107, the union that represents the transit workers.
The striking city employees blocked buses at the same location at the end of May, delaying buses for two hours.
Water employees have been on strike since the middle of May and have yet to reach a deal with the City of Hamilton.
The union representing the workers says their demands have remained the same and are asking for internal parity with other city workers in comparable positions.
