Hamilton, Burlington bus riders can now tap Presto with credit card

Ontario is looking to expand access to transit by allowing riders to tap their credit card on Presto devices in more local transit agencies in the GTA and Hamilton.
Starting today, riders on Hamilton Street Railway, Durham and York Region transit, along with Burlington transit can tap credit cards to pay fares on Presto devices.
The province first allowed the use of credit card tap fare payments on Presto in Aug. last year for the entire GO Transit network, as well as the Brampton, Mississauga and Oakville transit systems.
Ontario is now aiming to make it easier and more convenient to take transit in Durham, York, Burlington and Hamilton by giving riders more ways to pay.

Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath says there has never been a more convenient time to take transit.
“Expanded payment options offer our transit customers greater choice and make it easier to travel seamlessly within our community and between different transit services, which will further grow ridership,” Horwath said.
The credit card tap advancement is only available on adult standard fares.
Presto credit payment is available for the following transit operations:
- Brampton Transit
- Burlington Transit
- Durham Region Transit
- Hamilton Street Railway (HSR)
- MiWay (Mississauga)
- Oakville Transit
- York Region Transit
- GO Transit
- Union Pearson (UP) Express
The province says it is also working to expand the credit card payment system to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).
Presto has approximately 4.4 million active customers.
