Halton police seize cash, guns, drugs in ‘Project Regal’ arrests

Halton police seized illicit drugs valued in the tens of thousands, loaded guns and have made multiple arrests as part of an operation to dismantle a drug supply network in the Greater Toronto Area.
An investigation named ‘Project Regal’ began in Oakville and Brampton and ended with five arrests and more than 50 charges.
Between Feb. 8 and Feb. 10, officers executed eight search warrants at residences in Oakville, Brampton and Toronto and seized over 11 kg of cocaine, a half a kilo of methamphetamine, two loaded firearms, a re-vinned BMW and approximately $250,000 of bundled currency.
The five individuals arrested are: Tristan Bonnick, 33, Shaun Homem, 37, and Brendon Rego, 30, of Brampton; Joseph Campbell, 31, of Oakville; and Damion Rego, 31, of Orangeville. Charges range from trafficking of possession of controlled substances to various firearm offences and property obtained by crime.
“The seizure of these drugs, firearms and other stolen property sends a strong message — we will not tolerate this criminal activity in our region,” said Inspector Raf Skwarka.
The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Major Drugs and Organized Crime Unit at 905-825-4777 or Halton Crime Stoppers.
