Halton police investigate after man shot in leg in Burlington

Halton police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg in Burlington on Tuesday.

The incident happened in the area of Guelph Ln. and New St. around 1:50 p.m.

Police say one man was shot in the leg, breaking his femur bone. The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police used the canine unit as they searched near an apartment building in the area. It is not known if the victim lived at the apartment or was visiting someone who lives there.

Officers say there is no suspect description available and they are not currently searching for any suspects. Police say there is no danger to the public.

“At this point, we have not made an arrest or identified the suspects,” Steve Elms of Halton police said.

“We don’t believe the suspects are still in the area, but as I say, anybody that can help us out with information we’d appreciate that.”

Officers are asking anyone in the area with security cameras to review their footage and contact 905-825-4777 ext. 2316 if any suspicious activity is seen.
