Halton police say they have a new robbery task force after a recent spike in bank robberies throughout the region that have been escalating in both frequency and violence.

Police say two bank robberies took place in Halton this past December and there have been four so far this month.

The task force is expected to help with the coordination of internal investigative resources and enhance communication with other police services.
