Paramedics in Halton Region have begun getting their COVID-19 immunizations, according to the union.

The Halton Paramedic Union tweeted the news Friday morning.

Questions were raised earlier this week when the province suggested some paramedics might have to wait until the spring to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations.

The province’s vaccine task force quickly clarified, confirming that paramedics would be immunized in the first phase of vaccinations.

According to data from the province 28,887 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario as of 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Ontario recorded a record 3,328 cases of the virus and 56 deaths.

Daily numbers will not be provided on Friday.
