Trick or treating came early for patients at McMaster Children’s hospital this morning.

There were Disney princesses, superheroes and monsters in attendance. Children dressed up and paraded through the main hall of the hospital in their costumes, while staff lined the hallways offering snacks and treats.

Child life specialist Tija Praulins told CHCH News “it’s an awesome way for kids to be able to come out and have a sense of normalcy while they’re at the hospital.”

“For some of them it’s their first Halloween and for lots of them it’s a Halloween that they’ll spend in hospital so it’s a way to help get away from the stressful events of being hospitalized and for families to come together, and especially for the staff and people to be here and see these kids healthy and happy for a few hours.”

McMaster puts on the Halloween parade every year.
