Hamilton police are investigating a crash that happened near a home in the Mount Hope area early Tuesday morning. A 34-year-old man from Hagersville is facing multiple charges.

Police say they were called to a home on White Church Road near Nebo Road around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. Officers have now cleared the scene. A homeowner told CHCH News that the crash happened right on their lawn.

Charges include:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Failing to comply with probation
  • Five counts of failing to comply with release order
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Possession Schedule 1 of fentanyl.

Outside of the home a part of a fence on the porch was broken as well as a decorative well on the lawn.

The owners of the home did not want to appear on camera but shared some pictures with CHCH News. They say they woke up hearing yelling outside and saw multiple people, adding that it looked like one person was getting beaten up.

Police have not confirmed any of those details, but the pictures show a car that crashed into their lawn and people outside their home.

One of their neighbours also woke up hearing the commotion. “My husband went to go check it out, just to check on our neighbours and make sure they’re okay but it seems like it was some sort of car chase, maybe some sort of stolen vehicle situation we’re not sure…”

CHCH News asked police whether the vehicle was stolen but have yet to hear back.

It’s unclear if anyone was taken to hospital in the incident.
