Grigsby arrives in the hammer

The Tiger-Cats believe they have signed a player who can help them solve their backfield blues. The Ticats, with injuries to running backs C. J. Gable and Mossis Madu, have signed Nic Grigsby who was released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at his own request last week.

Nic Grigsby didn’t have any trouble making friends here in Hamilton, no matter what the Winnipeg media said about him having a bad attitude.

Nic Grigsby: “I laugh at that. Even the guys in Winnipeg. We laugh at that. Those guys are my brothers in there. I’m gonna’ come out and remain humble. This is a blessing, an opportunity to come here at this time of year and go out and make plays.”

On his first trip to Hamilton back in July, Grigsby proved his ability to make big plays including this game-tying touchdown as time ran out in the fourth quarter. With both C.J. Gable and Mossis Madu injured, this acquisition made sense to Kent Austin who acknowledged the rumors of Grigsby’s bad reputation: “I told him what our expectations are and that he would be evaluated like any other player here. He totally understood that and I would say there’s always 2 sides to every story.”

With 744 rushing yards, and 444 receiving yards to date, the 25-yearold Arizona alum seems poised to play on Saturday, and took every repetition in his first Ticat practice.
His controversial request to be released from the Blue Bombers last week, is in the past, he says: “It’s none of your guys concern right now. None of my concern right now. I’m over it. It’s a business decision, all the way around. “Down the road, this is going to be a big stretch of running the ball. You have to run the ball in this league to win, so they brought me here for a reason.”
