Grieving killer whale no longer carrying dead calf

A grieving mother killer whale in the pacific northwest appears to have come to grips with her loss.
The Center for Whale Research says the 20-year-old killer whale, known as ‘J35’, has been spotted chasing a school of salmon without the calf.
Researchers say the baby died just a few hours after birth. While it is common for orcas to mourn the loss of their young, they rarely do it for more than a few days.
J35’s mourning lasted at least 17 days, making it the longest display ever documented for that type of killer whale.
Researchers say her grief is over and they describe her behavior as “frisky.”
