Grandad’s Donuts closing for renovations

Grandad’s Donuts in Hamilton’s North End will be closing for renovations.

The Hamilton staple is shutting its doors on January 29 for extensive renovations that should last two months.

“When we first opened, we weren’t making nearly what we’re making now. So we have no space and just making it more functional and livin’ it up a little bit,” part-owner Carly Brant said.

Brant says the retro aesthetic will remain but seating will be reduced to make room for the larger kitchen.

Brant’s aunt Barb opened Granddad’s Donuts in 2007 after working at Tim Hortons and the business has a strong following, appearing on CHCH and an Arkells music video.
